本州旅行六つ目:東京 Day6: Tokyo

Yesterday we spent 11 hours hopping local trains at different stations all the way from Osaka to Tokyo. We passed by alot if interesting places like Miyabara, Gifu and Nagoya but unfortunatley didn`t have time to stop. Last night we arrived at arrived around 7pm, got to the hostel, went out for some dinner and hookah. The lounge in the hostel is pretty also...

As for this morining, we will probably explore Akihabara (electronic district), but first I need to find some food!

Update:

Today the first place we went to was Shinjuku. I got to see and walk across one of the bussiest intersections in all of Japan.

Complete with giant TVs, people on bikes... it was like being in an aquarium with schools of people. I mostly walked around the area just to explore the streets. There seemed to be of course alot a shopping that people could do. One thing I noticed though was the large amounts of Graffiti on some of the buildings. Some of theme were actually pretty good too!

Notice "SD" on the hat?

I also happened to run across the first Burger King ive ever seen in Japan... it sold alchohol.

Actually I ran across alot of interesting things. One of the "natural" conbini stores had a can of Corona that came with a pouch of lime to pour in.

I found this sort of strange but awesome ski mask at one of the shops. It only let you see out of one eye though.

Apparently some stores have their own way of advertising Snickers bars.

In Japan, everything is cute. Even the condoms.

The next place I went to explore was Akahibara. Its known as the electronic district. Also, im guessing because of all the Otaku that buy electronics, its related to the huge number of Maid Cafes located in the area. Acutally, we went to one. T_T It was not cheap. But it was one hell of an experience... there was no cameras, cellphones or video allowed. I realized that everything we learned about the Otaku from Nagaike Sensei`s class was true. Not just an exaggeration of perverted nerds in Japan. .. It was kinda sad seeing some of the people that come to these places regularly but inside, I was laughing pretty hard. Theres a pretty good reason why the rules say "No touching, taking pictures or asking for personal information to any of the Maids." But what an ingenious Idea! Comeing up with a stirct set of rules imposed on the customers... the store requires a cover charges just to get in, then requires you to order at least one thing on the menu, and then prohibits picture taking but sells polaroids at 500 to 800 yen a piece! Yet lots of customers still frequent it!! That is freakin good business!

This is Jesse in front of one of the Maid Cafe signs.. in his new baller glasses.

Actually, this maid was pretty nice. We talked to her with our broken Japanese for a while and talked her into letting us take a picture with her for free! Omg

I found this "American" coffee in a vending machine at one of the arcades called Club Sega.

Our next and last stop for the night was at the other end of town...in I don`t remember the name. We got to go up to the main observation deck of Tokyo Tower. Giving a 360 degree view of the city, you realize that you can see nothing but busy streets and tall buildings as far as the eye can see in each direction. Really breathtaking... my words really couldn`t do justice.

Yess!! I`m a sucker for awesome views!

Tomorrow I hope to go to Harajuku to see all the people who dress funny. As for now its super late... so.. Oyasumi!
